Vibration feedback built into the joystick grip
A vibration motor sits directly inside the joystick grip, transferring supported in-game effects to the player’s palm. In ACE COMBAT 8, the system can reproduce feedback connected with missile launches, cannon fire, turbulence, acceleration and damage.
Vibration feedback is available on PlayStation 5 and PC. Although the controller itself also supports PlayStation 4, this function is not available on that platform.
Locating the motor in the grip provides more direct feedback than placing it in the controller base. The feature complements the visual and audio information on screen while preserving the familiar HOTAS control arrangement.
Seven axes and 16-bit control for flight manoeuvres
The controller provides 7 control axes and 16 action buttons, accompanied by a rapid-fire trigger and a multidirectional hat switch. A dedicated mini-stick helps players navigate menus, select aircraft and control additional functions without reaching for another controller.
Thrustmaster uses 16-bit resolution across the control axes. The rotating Z-axis in the joystick also incorporates the company’s H.E.A.R.T. magnetic Hall Effect technology. Because the sensor operates without mechanical contact, it reduces the effect of physical wear on long-term input consistency.
Players can control the aircraft’s rudder in two ways. They can rotate the joystick grip around its Z-axis or use the progressive tilting lever on the throttle. The twist function includes a locking system for players who prefer the separate lever.
The joystick resistance can also be adjusted to suit different preferences and types of aircraft.
A detachable throttle adapts to different gaming spaces
The joystick and throttle can remain connected as one compact unit, making the system suitable for use on a player’s lap. The throttle can also be detached and positioned separately on a desk or table to create a wider cockpit-style layout.
A detachable USB-C cable simplifies storage and replacement. The controller includes official PlayStation buttons for navigating console menus and accessing system functions.
