REDMI 17 Series pairs a 7,500 mAh battery with a 6.9-inch display

Xiaomi has introduced the REDMI 17 Series, comprising the REDMI 17 and REDMI 17 5G. Both smartphones are built around a 7,500 mAh typical-capacity battery, a 6.9-inch display with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, and a 50 MP main camera. The 5G model adds a newer Qualcomm mobile platform, while the standard model targets everyday use with a MediaTek chipset.

A 7,500 mAh battery leads the REDMI 17 Series

Both models use a 7,500 mAh battery and support 45 W wired charging. They can also provide up to 22.5 W wired reverse charging, allowing the phone to supply power to a compatible device when needed. Xiaomi says the REDMI 17 can deliver up to 28 hours of video playback, 91 hours of music or 46 hours of calls in its internal tests. The REDMI 17 5G is rated for up to 28 hours of local 1080p video, 109 hours of music through Bluetooth headphones or 53 hours of calls.

A 6.9-inch adaptive display with everyday protection

The 6.9-inch panel has a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels and uses AdaptiveSync to switch between 60 Hz, 90 Hz and 120 Hz in supported applications. Its listed brightness reaches 675 nits typically and 825 nits in high-brightness mode. DC dimming and three TÜV Rheinland certifications address low blue light, flicker and circadian-friendly viewing.

Corning Gorilla Glass 7i covers the display, while the phones carry an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance. Wet Touch is designed to keep touch input responsive when the user’s fingers are wet. IP64 does not make the devices suitable for immersion, and resistance can diminish with normal wear.

Different chipsets separate REDMI 17 and REDMI 17 5G

The REDMI 17 uses the MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra, a 12 nm octa-core processor with a maximum CPU frequency of 2.0 GHz. The REDMI 17 5G moves to the 4 nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, supports 5G connectivity and reaches up to 2.4 GHz. Both run Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and support storage expansion by microSD card up to 2 TB. Available software features may vary by model and software version.

Imaging is handled by a 50 MP main camera with an auxiliary lens and an 8 MP front camera. Front-and-rear dual-view recording is included for capturing two perspectives at once. Dual stereo speakers, a 3.5 mm headphone connection, NFC support where available and an advertised volume boost of up to 300% round out the everyday feature set.
